The Budget and Appropriations Committee led by the Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Mary Emaase (Teso South) met several stakeholders to consider the budget implementation for the first six months of the Financial Year 2023/24.

Controller of Budget, Dr. Margaret Nyakang’o, raised concern over delays in exchequer releases noting that the National Treasury has released a total of Kshs.1.44 trillion in the first six months of the Financial Year 2023/24.

𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗦𝗞 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗬 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗧𝗛 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥

Members have raised concerns over the doctor’s strike, which has gone on for several weeks, causing disruptions in healthcare services across the country.

The legislators emphasized the importance of prioritizing negotiation with the medics to enable Kenyans to have access to healthcare and also prevent loss of life.

The Constitutional Implementation and Oversight Committee (CIOC), led by Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), today met officials of the National Gender Commission (NGEC) to discuss the implementation of their Constitutional mandate and the obstacles hindering the realization of the two-thirds gender rule.

The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations, chaired by Hon. Nelson Koech (Belgut) has called on ambassadorial nominees to be better prepared for approval hearings.

 

"Ambassadors are the face of the country in their duty stations. They represent the interests of Kenyans as such we expected the nominees who appear before this Committee to demonstrate their suitability," underscored Hon. Nelson Koech.
