The National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations, chaired by Hon. Nelson Koech (Belgut) has called on ambassadorial nominees to be better prepared for approval hearings.

 

"Ambassadors are the face of the country in their duty stations. They represent the interests of Kenyans as such we expected the nominees who appear before this Committee to demonstrate their suitability," underscored Hon. Nelson Koech.

The Public Investment Committee on Social Services, Administration and Agriculture (PIC-SSAA) met questioned officials from Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) led by Director General, Mr. David Mugonyi over expenditure by the Authority.

Five ambassadorial nominees have been vetted by the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations. 

 

The nominees, Ms. Jessica Muthoni Gakinya (Rabat, Morocco), Hon. Halima Yussuf Mucheke (The Hague, Netherlands), Mr. David Kiplagat Kerich (Washington D.C., USA), Ms. Everylyne Mwenda Karisa (Havana, Cuba), and Dr. Peter Mutuku Mathuki (Moscow, Russia), faced a range of questions regarding their suitability, qualifications, plans for trade relations, and ability to navigate diplomatic affairs.

The Departmental Committee on Education toured several public universities in the Central and Western regions of Kenya to  inspect the implementation of projects funded under the FY 2023/2024.

The Committee was divided into two teams, where the Chairperson, Hon. Julius Melly (Tinderet) led the central Kenya delegation, while Hon. Malulu Injendi (Malaba) led the team that toured Western Kenya.

The Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 conducted public hearings on the County Licensing (Uniform Procedures) Bill, 2022, in Kakamega and Nyeri counties. 

The Bill aims to standardize licensing procedures across county governments, promoting consistency and certainty.
