The Ministry of Energy says it is addressing the root cause of the instability in the national power transmission grid that led to the recent power outages in some parts of the country.

Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir told the Senate on Wednesday that the Government is committed in having a reliable, sustainable and resilient national grid system.

A committee of the Senate has given Governor Issa Timamy of Lamu County 60 days to submit a report detailing practical and verifiable steps being taken by the county to build capacity for the management of Integrated Finance Management Information System (IFMIS).

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) further directed the Governor to furnish details he is putting in place to automate the collection of Own Source Revenue, an ICT Policy and risk management framework.

Appearing before Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations in a meeting that was chaired by Garissa Senator Abdul Haji to shade light on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi (Sponsor of the Bill) informed the Committee that Miraa Crop supports almost the entire Meru Region Economically.

The Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Amason Jeffah Kingi, today, addressed the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), a global organisation of national parliaments, of which the Parliament of Kenya is a member and whose primary role is to promote democratic governance, accountability and cooperation among its members.

The Senate Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism retreated to Machakos County today to meet and consider the stakeholders’ submissions on the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood) Bill 2023. 

 

The Street Vendors Bill, which is sponsored by Senator Esther Okenyuri, seeks to provide a framework to regulate the business of street vending in the country to ensure that street vendors can transact their businesses in favourable conditions.
