Kitui County Governor H.E Julius Malombe, Machakos Governor H.E Wavinya Ndeti and Director Genera Mr. Mamo Boru Mamo appeared before Land, Environment and Natural Resources Committee Chaired by Nyandarua Senator John Methu, to deliberate on Statement Sought by Senator Tabitha Mutinda, on the regulation of sand harvesting in Kitui and Machakos Counties.

𝐔𝐍𝐏𝐀𝐈𝐃 𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇 𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐒: 𝐈𝐄𝐁𝐂 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐄'𝐒 𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒

Today, the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Human Rights (JLAHRC) convened a meeting with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to address concerns raised by Senator David Wafula Wakoli regarding unpaid bills from the Senatorial by-elections in Bungoma County, held in December 2022. 

Chaired by Bomet Senator Wakili Hillary Sigei, the committee sought answers from the IEBC, led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Marjan Marjan, who had been invited to provide a response.

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget has adopted a report on the County Governments Equitable Share Cash Disbursement Schedule for the financial year 2023/24.

The equitable share cash disbursement schedule for financial year 2023/2024 was tabled in the Senate on Tuesday 8th July, 2023 and committed to the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget for processing and recommendations.

Under the chairmanship of Vihiga Senator, Godfrey Osotsi, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds convened a meeting with the Governor of Mandera County, Mohamed Adan Khalif. The purpose of this meeting was to scrutinise the Auditor General's Report on the Financial Statement of Mandera Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MANDAWASCO) for the Financial Years 2018-2021, with the base year being 2020/2021.

Earlier today, the Senate Health Committee, Chaired by Senator Jackson Mandago, met with the Global Fund Local Agent, PriceWaterHouseCoopers (PWC) led by their Partner Mr. Francis Muriu and with Mr. Irungu Nyakera the Chairman of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and his Team over the ongoing allegations of irregularities in the procurement of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs).
