NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN MOURNING

The National Assembly is mourning the demise of Banissa MP Hon. Kulow Maalim Hassan.

Hon. Hasan passed on this morning at Aga Khan Hospital following a grisly road accident in Nairobi on Saturday.

The MP was serving his second term as Member for Banissa Constituency. He served in Public Accounts Committee and the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.

SPEAKER KINGI IN JUBA FOR FP-ICGLR MEETING

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi arrived in Juba, South Sudan on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 for the 13th Ordinary Session of the Plenary Assembly of the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR). 

Speaker Kingi will on Thursday March 30, 2023 preside over the meeting of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the 12 States which are members of FP-ICGLR.

On Friday, March 31st, the Speaker will chair the Plenary Assembly which is the top organ of the Forum. 

FP-ICGLR MEET DISCUSSES SECURITY IN GREAT LAKES REGION

The 26th Ordinary Session of the Executive Committee of the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR).

Mandera senator Ali Roba presided over the meeting on behalf of the Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

Speaker Kingi is the current president of the FP-ICGLR.

The meeting of the executive Committee centred on security and the political situation in the Great Lakes Region.

COMMITTEE DIRECTS TOURISM MINISTRY TO HALT CONSTRUCTION OF COLLEGE

The National Assembly Departmental Committee  on Tourism and Wildlife chaired by Hon. Kareke Mbiuki has directed  the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife to stop the construction of the multi-billion Ronald Ngala Utalii College until a probe the Committee has initiated is concluded.

Further, the Committee wants the National Treasury to provide a clear roadmap on how it will finance the project and clear the pending bills which include penalties arising from delayed payment and lack of funding on time.
