SPEAKER OF THE SENATE HOSTS THE GAMBIAN DELEGATION

Speaker Amason Kingi has hailed the diplomatic relationship between Kenya and The Gambia.

Speaker Kingi said The Gambia has been a wonderful friend to Kenya and that the two countries have share close ties for many years.

"Kenya believes in exchanging ideas and building partnerships," Speaker Kingi said.

He was speaking when he hosted a delegation MPs from The Gambia who are in Kenya for a benchmarking tour.

The team is led by Mr Fabakary Tombong Jatta who is the Speaker of National Assembly of the Gambia.

GAMBIAN SPEAKER LEADS A DELEGATION OF MPS TO PARLIAMENT OF KENYA

A Gambian delegation, led by Gambian National Assembly Speaker Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, Minority Leader Hon. Alhagie Darboe, and House Clerk Mr. Momodou Sise, has arrived in Kenya for a week-long study tour of the Kenyan Parliament. The delegation aims to learn from the Kenyan bicameral Parliament's legislative and administrative processes.

CPAC CALLS AUDITOR GENERAL TO AUDIT DEFUNCT NMS

The Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has called on the Office of the Auditor General to conduct a Special audit on how the Sh27 billion allocated to the defunct Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) was expended.

The Committee further wants similar audits conducted to determine the size of Nairobi Own Source Revenue and the pending bills incurred by both the City County and NMS in the last five years.

SEN. ESTHER OKENYURI ELECTED VICE CHAIRPERSON, STANDING COMMITTEE ON TRADE, INDUSTRILIZATION & TOURISM

The Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism chaired by Sen. Lenku Ole Kanar Seki of Kajiado County held a meeting today to elect the Committee’s Vice Chairperson. This position has been vacant following the resignation of Sen. Kipchumba Murkomen who was appointed the Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport and Public Works. Sen. Esther Okenyuri was elected to the position of Vice Chairperson unopposed.

In her maiden speech, the Vice Chairperson undertook to work in synergy with the Chairperson and all members of the Committee to excellently advance its mandate.

WOMEN PARLIAMENTARY DON LOCAL DESIGNERS' OUTFITS FOR A WEEK TO PROMOTE LOCAL INDUSTRIES

The Kenya Women Senators (KEWOSA) jointly with the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) will be running a week long campaign starting today, Tuesday 21st February 2023.

 The campaign will run for a week, which will entail Supporting Local Designers. The Women Members of Parliament will wear outfits made by their local designers for all Parliamentary sessions this week.

The campaign seeks to support the local industries by consuming locally produced goods and services.
