The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has been informed that extension and renovations works of the Officers Mess at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) are complete.

Members led by Chairperson Hon. Nelson Koech (Belgut), had visited the DHQ on a site inspection tour of works on the facility as part of their oversight mandate on the Ministry of Defence.

Officials of a Swiss firm which supplies excise stamps to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) appeared before the Public Investment Committee on Commercial Affairs and Energy to shed light on their contract with the KRA.

The contract mandated the firm, SICPA Security Solutions SA, to provide an Excisable Goods Management System (EGMS) that involved printing, supplying and delivering security revenue stamps to the KRA.

In a significant move towards administrative accountability, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds, led by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, convened to interrogate the financial conduct of Kitui County's water and sanitation entity. Julius Malombe, the Governor of Kitui County, appeared before the Committee to respond to the Auditor General’s queries arising from the financial statement reports of Kitui Water and Sanitation Company Limited (KITWASCO) for the fiscal years 2018/19, 2019/20 and 2020/21.

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Health is set to launch a public inquiry into activities at the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF). This has been prompted by the widespread allegation of collusion between NHIF officials and private healthcare facilities to defraud the national insurer. The Senate Committee on Information, Communication and Technology led by Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang, has today heard that Telkom Kenya owes the American Tower Corporation Kshs4 billion for a telecommunications tower sale and leaseback transaction dated October 2018. 

While considering a correspondence on the request for intervention by ATC Kenya, the telecommunications infrastructure operator informed the Members of the Committee that Telkom has failed to meet its Master Site License Agreement (MSLA) despite ATC Kenya providing services and upholding its agreements.

Nyamira County Senator Okongo Mogeni, is seeking a Statement from the Standing Committee on Roads and Transportation regarding the state of roads in Nyamira County.

In his Statement, Nyamira Senator wants the Committee to disclose the roads that have been approved for funding by the County Government of Nyamira during the 2019/2020 to 2021/2022 Financial Years, detailing the respective constituencies in which the said roads are located; Committee to table a report on which of these roads have been completed as wells as those currently under construction.
