The Senate Committee on Delegated Legislation, chaired by Senator Mwenda Gataya (Tharaka Nithi) convened on Thursday to deliberate on key sets of regulations published by the Ministry of Health, the Social Health Insurance (Amendment) Regulations, 2025 (Legal Notice No. 55 of 2025) and the Social Health Insurance (Tariffs for Healthcare Services) Regulations, 2025 (Legal Notice No. 56 of 2025).

The National Assembly has officially received a message from President William Ruto nominating Dr. Erastus Edung Ethekon as the next Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), alongside six nominees to serve as commissioners. 

While addressing the House, Speaker of the National Assembly,  Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, informed Members that he had received the Presidential message during the recess period and had acted in accordance with the Standing Orders and relevant statutes.

The National Assembly resumed its sittings today for the second part of the Fourth Session, which the Speaker, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, described as the “Budget Session” owing to the critical financial business ahead. 

Members of Parliament returned from a working recess that saw them conduct public hearings on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and scrutinise the 2025/2026 Budget Estimates.

The Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Education Committee, Hon. Julius Melly (Tinderet), has proposed a reallocation of Kshs. 5.9 billion in the 2025/26 Financial Year Budget to support the administration and invigilation of national examinations, an item previously omitted from the budget estimates.
