National Assembly staff set in motion preparations for the 13th Parliament

The staff of the National Assembly of Kenya have kicked off preparations in earnest for the orientation of the newly elected Members of the National Assembly and for the inception of the 13th Parliament. 

Speaking to staff this morning, the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly Ms. Serah Kioko, and the Deputy Clerk, Mr. Jeremiah Ndombi noted that a good number of the elected Members will be serving their first term hence the need to prepare adequately for their orientation and induction into the House operations.

Change of Guard at the National Assembly as Clerk Sialai hands over

The outgoing Clerk of the National Assembly Mr. Michael Sialai has officially handed over to his successor, Acting Clerk Ms. Serah Kioko. The handover ceremony took place this morning during a National Assembly Board of Management meeting. This follows Ms. Kioko’s appointment by the Parliamentary Service Commission to assume the roles of the Clerk of the National Assembly in acting capacity in place of Mr. Sialai whose tour of duty ends on July 31, upon retirement.

Senate of the 12th Parliament adjourns sine die

 

NAIROBI, 22 June – The Senate adjourned sine die (with no set date for resumption) Tuesday, ahead of the August 9th General Elections, as Senators took stock of their legislative performance and recounted their fond memories.  

Before the Majority Leader moved the adjournment motion, the Senate approved a motion on the Revised Debt Ceiling for the National Government. 27 Senators voted in favour of varying the Public Debt Ceiling from KES 9 trillion to 10 trillion, with three voting against.

Zambian President visits Parliament; lays wreath at Kenyatta’s Mausoleum

The Zambian Head of State who is in the country for a two-day State visit, laid a wreath of flowers at the Mausoleum of Founding President, the late H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

Parliament to host the 19th Annual National Prayer Breakfast


The Parliament of Kenya is scheduled to host the 19th Edition of the National Annual Prayer Breakfast tomorrow, Thursday, 26th May 2022 at Safari Park Hotel. President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to grace the occasion themed “Transitions”.

The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual ecumenical event offered under the auspices of the Co-Patrons, the Speaker of the Senate and the National Assembly; and organized by a group of dedicated volunteers who make up the National Prayer Breakfast Organizing Committee.
