The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula and his Senate counterpart, Hon. Amason Kingi joined Speakers from Commonwealth Member States during an event to mark the 75th Commonwealth Anniversary at the Commonwealth House, London.

The Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds today held a meeting with Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika. The focus of the meeting was to review the Auditor-General's reports on the Nakuru County Emergency Fund and Nakuru Bursary Fund, covering the fiscal years from 2020 to 2022.

𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

A petition in which the Parliament of Kenya  has been sued alongside other entities for enactment of three health-related laws, will be heard before the High Court on 20th  March and 21st March 2024, a three-Judge Bench has directed. 

High Court Judges, Justice  Alfred Mabeya, Justice Freda Gathiru and Justice Robert Limo will hear the petition touching on among other laws, the recently enacted Social Health Insurance Act.

Senate Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Committee, under the leadership of Kirinyaga County Senator James Kamau Murango, MP, today held a  public participation to deliberate on the legislative proposal on the Sugar Bill, 2022, (National Assembly Bill No. 34).

This morning, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds, led by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, convened a meeting with Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu. The focus was to scrutinize the Auditor-General's reports on four county funds, covering the fiscal period between 2020 and 2022. These funds included the County Bursary Fund, Alcoholics Drinks Control Fund, Maasai Mara Support Fund, and the Narok County Revenue Fund.

The Diaspora Affairs and Migrant Workers Committee chaired by Hon. Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta) met virtually with Mr. Muhsin Suleiman, a Kenyan residing in Istanbul, Turkey, in an inquiry into the effectiveness of consular services offered to Kenyans in the Diaspora by Kenyan Embassies and high commissions across the world.

The National Assembly, last week adopted the Report of the Departmental Committee on Health on its consideration of the Agreement on the Establishment of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI). This facilitates Kenya's integration into a network of vaccine producers, consortia, and health researchers.
