Senate holds a 5-day Induction retreat for Senators in Nakuru County;

The Speaker of the Senate Rt.Hon. Amason Kingi, EGH will today open a 5-day induction retreat for Senators at Nakuru County. The theme of the retreat is : Understanding the mandate of the Senate: Strengthening Devolution through Legislative agenda.

Senators will be taken through detailed and elaborate discussions by various speakers in Government and Private sector. Key speakers expected at the induction include Chief Justice, Martha Koome who will speak on the emerging jurisprudence on Kenya's devolved governance. Devolution CS, Hon Eugene Wamalwa will also  apprise Senators on the linkage between Senate and County Governments.

Senators will also be taken through various topical discussions including the relationship between the Senate and Constitutional Commissions, Budget approval process and the role of Senate, role of development partners in Devolution, media engagement and public awareness and legislative and committee business in the Senate. 

Other key guests invited include CS Treasury, Ukur Yatani, Attorney General Hon. Kihara Kariuki, Former Senate Speaker Hon. Ekwee Ethuro ,Council of Governors, Chairperson Hon Anne Waiguru, CS Foreign Affairs, Amb Rachael Omamo, Director General,National Intelligence Service,Major (Rtd) Philip Kameru, Mr David Gosney, Mission Director, USAID amongst others.

The Clerk of the Senate Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye will lead other parliamentary senior staff  as key internal resource persons.
