The Senate Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights (JLAHRC) met with election stakeholders to address urgent reforms needed before the 2027 General Elections, with funding shortfalls and legal gaps emerging as critical challenges.

 

The JLAHRC brought together representatives from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, the National Gender and Equality Commission, and civil society groups to chart a reform agenda.

The Senate Standing Committee on Energy has launched a formal inquiry into the controversial handover of a 30,000-metric-tonne Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) storage facility in Mombasa to Nigerian firm Asharami Synergy Ltd. 

 

The move has raised major concerns about transparency, legality, and the sidelining of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), which had originally been tasked with developing the project.
