CONTROLLER OF BUDGET SAYS COUNTIES OWE SUPPLIERS KSHS 159 BILLION IN PENDING BILLS.

The Senate Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations Chaired by Wajir Senator,Mohamed Abbas met the Controller of Budget (COB) CPA Dr. Margaret Nyakang'o,CBS over the status of pending bills in the counties .

The COB told the Senators that counties owe suppliers an accumulative Pending Bills of Kshs 157 billion by the County Executives and Kshs 1.63 billion by County Assemblies.

The Senators had invited the COB to apprise them on the status of Pending Bills and explain why these monies cannot be settled.

REQUEST FOR A STATEMENT ON THE STATUS OF BURA - MGHANGE - WERUGHA - WUNDANYI - MBALE - MTOMWAGOTI AND CHALA - NJUKINI - ILLASIT ROADS

Taita Taveta County Sen. John Mwaruma, MP, is seeking a Statement from the Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing, concerning the status of the Bura-Mghange-Werugha-Wundanyi-Mbale- Mto Mwagoti and Chala-Njukini-Illasit road.

In the Statement, the Committee should explain reason(s) leading to the disbandment of camp by the contractor of the Bura-Mghange-Werugha-Wundanyi-Mbale- Mto Mwagoti and provide a report on the status of the Chala-Njukini-Illasit road.

CLIMATE CHANGE SHOULD INFORM NATIONAL PLAN, SAYS SPEAKER KINGI

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has said the challenges brought about by Climate Change should influence the framing of Kenya’s next National Action Plan.

The Speaker admitted that changes in climatic conditions have gained prominence in recent years, triggering an erratic climate pattern that has devastated agriculture as it disrupted lives and livelihoods in unprecedented ways. 

These challenges, the Speaker argued, should influence the framing of the country’s next National Action Plan.

HAKI YETU MAKES SUBMISSIONS ON BUXTON HOUSING

Senate Standing Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing chaired by Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thangwa, today held a meeting with Petitioners on the Petition concerning eviction and demolition of Buxton Estate in Mvita Constituency, Mombasa County.

In the petition, the evictees of Buxton told the Committee there was confusion and deception by the County Government of Mombasa and the developer of the entire Urban Renewal and Regeneration Project, Buxton Points Apartments Limited on matters regarding the land ownership and tenure as well as the nature of the project.
