Virtual Conference between the National Assembly of Kenya and the National People’s Congress (NPC ) of the People’s Republic of China.

On Friday, 20th November, 2020, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Cheboi, CBS, MP led a delegation from  National Assembly in a Virtual Conference between the National Assembly of Kenya and the National People’s Congress (NPC ) of the People’s Republic of China. The delegation from China was led by H.E. Mr. Cao Jianming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC .

BUNGE LA TAIFA KUTUMIA KISWAHILI KATIKA MIJADALA BUNGENI

Matumizi ya lugha ya Kiswahili katika Bunge la Taifa la Kenya imekuwa safari ya mwendo wa kobe.

Mara ya kwanza kwa Bunge hili kukumbatia matumizi ya Kiswahili ilikuwa mnamo mwaka wa 1974. Hii ni baada ya Rais wa kwanza wa Jamhuri ya Kenya Hayati Mzee Jomo Kenyatta kutangaza kuwa Kiswahili iwe mojawapo ya lugha za kutumiwa kuendesha mijadala Bungeni.  Alitoa amri hiyo baada ya Kiswahili kupandishwa hadhi na kuwa lugha ya Taifa nchini Kenya, kulingana na chapisho la Lyndon Harries.

House Reconvenes, Jubilant Over High Court Judgment

The Speaker of the Senate, Rt Hon Kenneth Lusaka has termed the High Court Judgment on Constitutional Petition 284 of 2019 as a “landmark ruling” that not only reaffirms constitutionalism and the rule of law in Kenya, but also the role of the Senate in devolution.
Addressing the House by way of Communication from the Chair after a three-week recess, Speaker Lusaka noted that the judgment by the three-judge bench has far-reaching implications on the legislative business of the Senate.

HOUSE COMMITTEE VETS A FIRST DATA COMMISSIONER IN KENYA

The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Communication Information and Innovation chaired by Hon. William Kisang has today vetted a Data Commissioner nominee Ms. Immaculate Kassait.

If approved, this will be the first ever data office in Kenya. Ms. Immaculate Kassait was nominated by His Excellency the President in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 (4) of the Data protection Act, 2019.

Members of the National Assembly, Thursday 15th October embarked on a short recess, but not before concluding crucial business that was under their consideration. Sittings are expected to resume on 3rd November after the two-week recess which is in accordance with the House calendar.

Schools are Ready to Re-open Professor Magoha tells Parliamentary Committee

The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Research, Professor George Magoha,  confirmed to the Members of National Assembly on Wednesday, that the government is ready to re-open learning institutions, after more than six months of closure. The Cabinet Secretary who was appearing before the Departmental Committee on Education and Research, reiterated the commitment of the Ministry to ensure that learners do not miss a calendar year.
