NG-CDF COMMITTEE IN AWENDO FOR PROJECT INSPECTION

The National Assembly's Select Committee on National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) chaired by Hon. Musa Sirma visited Awendo Constituency to inspect NG-CDF-funded projects in the area.

The first project to be inspected was the Awendo Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC). The project which began in 2018 has been completed and is operational.

Making his remarks, the area Member of Parliament Mr. Walter Owino, who is also a Member of the Committee, thanked the country government for seconding staff to the KMTC to provide services.

"I thank the County Government of Migori for seconding their staff to come and help us start lectures here. However, I want to request the KMTC Board to help us by deploying enough training staff so we can optimally utilise this facility," said Hon. Owino.

The Committee Chairperson Hon. Musa Sirma lauded Hon. Owino for great stewardship in the utilization of the Fund.

"We have come in as Members of the NG-CDF Committee on an inspection tour of the Fund’s development projects. We are impressed by the projects your Member of Parliament has implemented and we must say, this is a great achievement and it shows how the Fund can transform the lives of the citizens and can be used to develop infrastructure in our Constituencies" Hon. Sirma told the residents.

The Members also visited the Kenya National Library, Awendo which they hailed as one of its kind especially considering that it is based in a rural constituency.

Finally, the Committee visited the Nyakuru Secondary School footbridge. This is a project that was undertaken following the drowning of two students from Nyakuru mixed secondary school and a volunteer who was trying to save them.
