SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON ENERGY CONSIDERS THE LOCAL CONTENT BILL

The Senate Standing Committee on Energy led by the Vice Chairperson, Sen. William Kipsang' Kipkemoi held a meeting today to consider pre-publication scrutiny of The Local Content Bill, 2023.

The Bill, sponsored by the Chairperson of the Committee, Sen. Wamatinga Wahome, seeks to create a comprehensive framework that will fully enhance local content in Kenya. The Bill proposes to achieve this through among other things; maximization of value-addition, facilitation of a competitive, capable and sustainable labour force within the extractive industry, and enhancing local ownership and use of local assets and services in the extractive industry.
