BENCHMARKING VISIT BY BARINGO COUNTY ASSEMBLY ON MCA’S CAR LOAN REIMBURSEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION OF WARD STAFF AND WARD OFFICE OPERATIONS

The Senate Liaison Office hosted a delegation from the County Assembly Service Board of Baringo. The delegation was led by County Assembly Speaker Hon. Vincent Kemboi accompanied by Majority Leader Hon. Lawi Tallam, Hon. Julius Ng’otie, Hon. Wesley Lekakimon, Commissioner Nelly Amdany and technical staff. 

The main objective of the benchmarking visit was to enhance knowledge, of how to effectively manage ward office operations and to understand the dynamics of managing partisan and nonpartisan staff. 

SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON LABOUR AND SOCIAL WELFARE INDUCTION RETREAT

The Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare chaired by Senator Julius Murgor Recha, MP today commenced a four-day retreat program in Naivasha, Nakuru County.

 

In the retreat period the committee intends to meet key stakeholders including: Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, 

Ministry of Public Service, Gender and Affirmative action, 

State Department of Diaspora Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign and 

Diaspora affairs, Public Service Commission, Council of Governor and

National Youth Service.

 

NYERI GOVERNOR APPEARS BEFORE CPAC 

 The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has started considering Auditor General’s reports of the 47 County Governments.

Governor Mutahi Kahiga was the first county boss to appear before the Committee to defend the revenue and expenditure accounts of his administration since the 13th Parliament was elected in August 2022.

The Governor appeared before the Committee, which is chaired by Homa Bay senator Moses Kajwang, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

CPAC MEMBERS MEET COUNTERPARTS FROM KAKAMEGA COUNTY

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) held a meeting with the Public Accounts and Investment Committee of Kakamega County Assembly which is on a week-long benchmarking tour of the Senate.

During the meeting the two committees discussed ways in which oversight can strengthened in all the 47 counties with the Senate Committee playing the role of a brother.

The Speaker of Senate Rt.Hon. Amason Kingi, EGH, has expressed the need to entrench the role of Parliamentarians in peace building in order to promote regional stability and stem conflict.

The Speaker while making his opening remarks during the Inaugural joint post election retreat between the Senate and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) said it was time leaders use their positions to end conflict within the region.

He was speaking this morning when he opened the Post-Election Seminar for the Members of the National Assembly at the PrideInn Beach Resort, Convention Centre and Spa, in Mombasa County.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO HOLD POST-ELECTION SEMINAR FOR MEMBERS

The National Assembly will starting tomorrow hold a four-day Post Election Seminar (PES) for Members in conjunction with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA). The event which as per practice within the Commonwealth fraternity takes place at the beginning of the term of every Parliament, will be officially opened by H.E. President Dr. William S. Ruto who is also expected to make a key note address. The seminar which will be held at the Pride-inn Paradise Beach Resort Convention Centre and Spa, will run from 30th January to 2nd February, 2023.

Induction of House Committees in Mombasa County, resumes

The Induction Program for House Committees at the Pride Inn Paradise Resort, Convention Centre and Spa, in Mombasa County, resumed yesterday afternoon after a break-through in the negotiations that had been going on over the delayed disbursement of the National Government-Constituency Development Funds (NG-CDF). 

THE (IEBC) AMENDMENT BILL 2022 ASSENTED TO LAW

The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula alongside his counterpart Senate Speaker, the Rt. Hon. (Sen.) Amason Jeffah Kingi this morning witnessed H.E. President William Samoei Ruto assent to law the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (Amendment) Act 2022.
