In an electrifying encounter at the Aga Khan Academy, Kenya's men's volleyball team secured a hard-fought victory against Burundi in a five-set marathon that kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

The hosts, coming off a mixed run with a win against Uganda and a setback against Tanzania, demonstrated remarkable resilience in this crucial fixture.

The match, which began at 2030Hrs saw Kenya claim the first set 25-21, before Burundi stormed back to dominate the next two sets 25-11 and 25-14.

Facing a humiliating defeat, Kenya showcased their fighting spirit in the fourth set, narrowly prevailing 25-23 to force a decisive fifth set. The home team, spurred by a passionate crowd, sealed their triumph with a convincing 15-11 victory in the final set.

Hon. Alfred Mutai emerged as the standout performer, earning Man of the Match honours with his powerful spikes that proved instrumental in Kenya's victory. His exceptional performance at critical moments helped the home team maintain their composure during the intense final exchanges.
