The National Assembly is set to hold a pivotal mid-term retreat to evaluate theย legislative progress and outlineย priorities for the upcoming Parliamentary session. Scheduled from January 27 to 31, 2025, in Naivasha, Nakuru County, this gathering will bring together Members of Parliamentย to reflect on achievements and strategize for the fourth session which willย commenceย on February 10, 2025.
Announced by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula during a special sitting on Thursdayย January 16, 2025, the retreat, comes at the mid-point of the 13th Parliament and is will provide an opportunity for legislators to reflect on the progress made during the first three sessions and strategize for the legislative agenda in the fourth session, set to begin in February.
โThe retreat will enable Members to take stock of achievements so far and deliberate on key legislative matters expected moving forward. Coming at the midterm of this Parliament, it offers an opportunity to prepare for the remainder of the term,โ said Speaker Wetangโula stated
The programme is designed toย feature plenary discussions and panel sessions facilitated by seasoned experts, including current and former legislators. MPs are also expected to explore areas for improving legislative processes to enhance governance and service delivery.ย
Preparations for the retreat are already underway, with the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr.ย Samuel Njoroge set to release logistical details soon.
