Members of the Selection Panel for the Appointment of Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission have today elected Dr. Elizabeth Muli and Mr. Awori James Achoka as Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, respectively; setting in motion to process to fill the four vacancies in the membership of the poll Commission.

Senate Health Committee meets Private Sector to Discuss Contribution in COVID-19 Fight

NAIROBI, 20 April – The Senate Committee on Health presided by Ag Chair, Sen Ledama Olekina has today heard that the country’s supply of the Astra Zeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine may run out by next week.

 

In a meeting held between the Committee and the private sector, Dr. Amit Thakker who is the Chair of the Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF), however, allayed fears of those expecting their second jabs, saying he remained optimistic.

 

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PROCEEDS ON RECESS

The National Assembly yesterday voted to proceed on recess until on Tuesday, 4th May, 2021 at 2.30p.m, when the House will resume to continue with the First Part of the Session. The resolution was contained in a Motion moved by the Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Amos Kimunya seeking to suspend the Ordinary House Sittings from yesterday 30th March, 2021.

Parliamentary caucus wants economic and debt management reforms to inform 2021/2022 Budget

A Parliamentary caucus has proposed a raft of radical reforms to inject realism and fiscal discipline in the budgeting process, and to ensure the national debt remains at sustainable levels.

Speaking during a 2-day stakeholders engagement forum in Mombasa County this weekend, the Parliamentary Caucus on Economy and Business also rooted for the need to enhance the independence of the national debt office and the strengthening of budget implementation monitoring and evaluation framework and for the execution of House resolution.

Budget and Liaison Committees hold stakeholders’ engagement over Budget

The National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee chaired by the Hon. Kanini Kega (Kieni), in a joint sitting with the House’s Liaison Committee(Chairpersons Committee); chaired by Deputy Speaker, the Hon. Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North), have this weekend convened a pre-budget review conference with various government agencies in Mombasa County. The two-day forum is scheduled to deliberate on the status of implementation of the budget for the Financial Year 2020/2021, as well as review the 2021/2022 budget proposals.
