Kigumo MP, Hon. Joseph Munyoro has sought for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning on the plight of boda boda operators across the country.

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

 The Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining has met with the State Departments under its purview to consider their Budget Policy Statement (BPS) for the Financial Year 2024/25 and the medium term.

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee chaired by Hon. George Murugara has asked the Department of Correctional Services to prioritize its budgetary needs over wants in the 2024 Budget Policy Statement (BPS).

 The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works, chaired by Hon. Johana Ng'eno (Emurua Dikirr), met with the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome and the Principal Secretary for Housing, Mr. Charles Hinga over the 2024 Budget Policy Statement.

HOUSE ADOPTS National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) REPORT

𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆,  𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The National Assembly on Thursday adopted the report of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) which was tabled in the House on 7th December 2023 by Leader of the Majority Party and NADCO Co-Chairperson, Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah (Kikuyu).

𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The National Assembly Departmental on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations chaired by Hon. Nelson Koech (Belgut) met with officials from the Ministry of Defence, National Intelligence Service (NIS), and State Department for Foreign Affairs (SDFA), State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA), and State Department for East African Community (SDEAC) in consideration of the 2024 Budget Policy Statement.

The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget chaired by Mandera County Senator Ali Roba today held a meeting with stakeholders to deliberate on the Budget Policy Statement, Medium Term Debt Management Strategy (MTDMS) and Medium Term Revenue Strategy (MTRS).

 

The committee received submissions from the Commission on Revenue Allocation led by the Commission Chair Mrs. Mary Chebukati and the Council of Governors led by the Council Chair and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru.

The Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations held a meeting this Thursday where members deliberated on the 2024 Budget Policy Statement (BPS), Medium Term Debt Management Strategy (MTDMS) and the Medium Term Revenue Strategy (MTRS).

 

During the meeting, committee members were taken through the Budget Policy Statement, Medium Term Debt Management Strategy and the Medium Term Revenue Strategy by the Parliamentary Budget Office.

The Senate Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources led by Vice Chair Sen. (Dr.) Lelegwe Ltumbesi, held a meeting today to deliberate on Budget Policy Statement (BPS) for the Financial Year 2024/2025.

The Second Schedule of the Senate Standing Orders mandates the Committee on Lands, to consider all matters relating to lands and settlement, environment, forestry, wildlife, mining, water resources management and development.

The National Assembly and the Senate have reached a consensus on the County Governments Additional Allocations Bill (National Assembly Bill No.23 of 2023). This led to the introduction of the Mediated version of the  Bill in the National Assembly yesterday. 

The Mediated version of the Bill, which was moved by the Chairperson, Budget and Appropriations Committee, Hon. Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), seeks to provide for the additional allocations to county governments for the 2023/2024 Financial Year.

𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The Public Investments Committee on Governance and Education, led by Hon. Jack Wamboka, has initiated investigations into the financial discrepancies at the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBA) and the Business Registration Services (BRS), following queries in the Auditor General's report for the Financial Years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

At KECOBA, audit queries have been asked with regards to a deficit of Kshs.22,034,340, which resulted in the depletion of accumulated reserves.

The National Assembly this afternoon passed two Procedural Motions  both aimed at extending the review periods for the Budget Policy Statement and the Debt Management Strategy of 2024.

The Motions,  moved by Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, Chairperson of the Budget  and Appropriations Committee, and Hon. Abdi Shurie, Chairperson of the Public Debt & Privatization Committee, are designed to afford Kenyan citizens additional time to give their views on  the nation’s budget.

Sen. Miraj Abdulrahman is seeking a statement from the Standing Committee on Energy regarding the upsurge in incidents of electric fires in Likoni and Changamwe constituencies in Mombasa County.

 

In the Statement, the Committee should

provide a status update on investigations into the upsurge in incidents of electric fires in Likoni and Changamwe constituencies in Mombasa County.

 

The Senator also wants the Committee to;

The Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Funds, led by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, met today with Marsabit Governor Mohammed Ali. The meeting's primary purpose was to examine the Auditor-General's reports on the financial statements of three funds from 2020 to 2022:
