The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands met with officials of the Drumvale Farmers Cooperative Society regarding a petition on alleged illegal liquidation of their assets.

 The Committee chaired by Hon. Joash Nyamoko (North Mugirango) met the Cooperative Society members, after they petitioned the National Assembly to come to their aid over the alleged illegal liquidation of the entity’s assets and irregular dispossession of the Cooperative Society land in Machakos County. 

Officials of the Cooperative Society told the Committee that the members lost millions of shillings in bank savings and Treasury Bonds, following an alleged illegal liquidation of their assets. 

They told the Committee that the liquidation happened despite the existence of a court order barring the same and that a contempt-of-court suit against persons that oversaw the exercise was still pending in court.

 During the meeting, Hon. Nyamoko noted that a similar petition was before the Senate and indicated that the Committee would inquire how far the Senate had gone in their probe before proceeding with the matter. 

"I want to assure you that we will do everything in our power to get down to the bottom of this matter. I will find out from the Senate on the status of their deliberations to avoid duplication of issues," said Hon. Nyamoko.
