The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula hosted the Apostolic Nuncio of Kenya and South Sudan, H.E Hubertus Van Megen, who paid him a courtesy call in his office at the National Assembly on Thursday, 11th April, 2024.

During the meeting, they discussed matters crucial to the nation's progress with a specific focus on the urgent need to streamline government funding particularly for University Education, to enable students’access education without challenges.

Recognizing that corruption poses a substantial threat to the growth of any nation, Speaker Wetang’ula and H.E Megen concurred that the fight must be intensified in order to build trust amongst foreign investors.

β€œThe government is committed to fight corruption, hence the ongoing efforts to digitize service delivery and minimize direct interaction between service providers and consumers,” stated Speaker.

H.E Megen emphasized the importance of putting in place measures aimed at fostering transparency and accountability within the governance structures, while advocating for awareness on the healthcare coverage as a means to enhance social welfare.

Speaker Wetang’ula affirmed to engage both the National Assembly’s Health Committee and the Ministry of Health to intensify efforts in raising awareness about the healthcare coverage.
