The Decentralized Accounts Committee has raised concern over what it said is laxity by Constituency Development Fund Accounts Managers in resolving audit queries raised by the Auditor General.
ย The Committee chaired by Mwingi Central MP, Hon (Dr.) Gideon Mulyungi is in the process of assessing the implementation status of the recommendations of the Auditor General to Constituency Funds Accounts Managers for the last ten years.
ย Significantly, the Legislators noted that there are recurrent reports of incomplete projects across several constituencies that have so far appeared before the MPs to address audit issues affecting their respective constituencies.
ย According to the Committee, a number of Project Management Committees have failed to ensure that MPs deliver on their promises to the people, as several projects have remained incomplete or totally unimplemented despite sufficient funds having been allocated for them.
ย Hon. (Dr.) Mulyungi pointed out that the Project implementation status report revealed that the Fund had 98 projects as at 30thย June, 2022 with a total allocation of Kshs.137, 088,879. However as at 30thย September, 2022 only 69 projects worth Kshs.94, 450,879 had been completed and put to use.
ย As the Committee continues its assessment of the status of the resolution of audit queries across constituencies, they have urged persons charged with overseeing projects by Legislators to ensure efficient service delivery to the people.
