The National Assembly has approved the Kenya National Library Service Bill, 2023 (National Assembly Bill No. 20 of 2023), paving the way for a modern legal framework aimed at strengthening library services, promoting literacy and preserving Kenya's cultural heritage.

The Appropriations Act, 2026 has been assented to by President William Ruto, authorizing government expenditure of KSh4.82 trillion for the 2026/27 Financial Year and setting the stage for implementation of key programmes under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The legislation, sponsored by Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson Hon. Samuel Atandi, was passed by the National Assembly on 18th June 2026 before being forwarded to the president for assent.

President William Ruto has assented into law the Supplementary Appropriation (No. 2) Act, 2026, paving the way for additional government spending to address emerging priorities as the 2025/2026 Financial Year comes to a close.

The Act gives effect to the Supplementary Estimates II, which seek to align budgetary allocations with actual expenditure requirements, available resources, operational shortfalls, enhanced security needs, and financing requirements for development partner supported programmes.

The National Assembly has passed the Kenyan Sign Language Bill, 2023 (Senate Bill No. 9 of 2023) with amendments, paving the way for enhanced recognition, regulation and use of Kenyan Sign Language across public institutions, schools, courts, media houses and telecommunications services.

The Bill, co-sponsored by Hon. Millie Odhiambo-Mabona and Hon. Umulkheir Harun, seeks to promote inclusivity and guarantee equal access to information, education and public services for persons who are deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind.
