Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano, EGH, appeared before the Senate plenary to respond to Questions raised by Senators.
Responding to Sen. Joyce Korir, MP, on the performance of the tourism sector in 2024 and the strategies being implemented to enhance Kenya’s global competitiveness,the CS reported that the sector had recorded one of its strongest performances in over a decade, with international arrivals rising by 14.6 per cent from 2.08 million in 2023 to 2.4 million in 2024, while earnings increased from Kshs. 377 billion to Kshs. 452 billion.

Plans are underway to reform Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) to address a series of challenges facing the new level of education, including issues of independence, staffing and the structural framework.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba told the Senate on Wednesday that the Ministry is committed to reviewing the JSS system in order to respond effectively to concerns raised by teachers, parents and lawmakers.
