The National Assembly's Select Committee on National Government Constituency Development Fund, led by Hon. Musa Sirma (Eldama Ravine) has concluded the first phase of public hearings across several counties. The committee organized the public participation sessions into four sub-committees, which were led by Hon. Musa Sirma, Hon. Kassim Sawa, Hon. Dr Gideon Ochanda, and Hon. Joshua Mwalyo.

In Eldama Ravine, Hon. Musa Sirma presided over a public hearing meeting attended by residents of Baringo County. 

During the meeting, Hon. Beatrice Elachi (Dagoretti North), highlighted the impact of NG-CDF,  saying the Fund has levelled the education playing field.  She noted that NG-CDF has not only transformed infrastructure but  also aided students through bursaries, emphasizing that education is the great equalizer.

"I wish we can make arrangements and invite all the bursary beneficiaries at Kasarani stadium the way Equity Bank does so that people can appreciate how NG-CDF has touched many lives", said Hon. Elachi.

Expressing admiration for NG-CDF's achievements, Hon. Akuja recommended reevaluating bursary caps and prioritizing disbursements based on urgent needs. He also proposed raising the allocation of the National Government Constituency Development Fund from the current 2.5 percent to between five percent and 10 percent. 

Making his remarks, Hon. Sirma commended the significant turnout of residents eager to voice their opinions on the crucial matter of NG-CDF. He celebrated how NG-CDF had facilitated the establishment of day secondary schools, thereby promoting higher enrollment and retention rates.
