The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Mr. Julius Ogamba, has informed the National Assembly that delays in the release of school capitation funds have been occasioned by an ongoing audit that uncovered serious irregularities, including the disbursement of funds to non-existent schools.

Appearing before the House to respond to Members’ Questions pursuant to Standing Order 42A (6B), the CS was addressing a question from the Member for Emuhaya, Hon. Omboko Milemba. His question was read on his behalf by Gilgil MP, Hon. Martha Wangari.

Members of the Kenyan Chapter of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) caucus held a meeting with the IMF mission team to discuss key policy reforms that would accelerate the country's economic growth.

The caucus chaired by Hon. Mohamed Aden Daud (Wajir East) underscored Parliament’s commitment to safeguarding the country from policies that could lead to fiscal distress.

"Parliament upholds the national values and principles of governance provided under Chapter 10 (2) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010," Hon. Daud said.
