The National Assembly received a petition from the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Deborah Barasa on 4th November 2025 seeking parliamentary approval to de-gazette portions of four public forests to regularise long-standing human settlements.

The Senate Standing Committee on Energy, chaired by Senator William Kisang (Elgeyo Marakwet), today held a consultative meeting with the management of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) at the Authority’s headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi.

The debate over the scope of national parastatals in the devolved era came to a head today as the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations. 

REREC, currently ranked as the top national body performing functions deemed devolved by the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), faced intense scrutiny regarding its continued involvement in last-mile power connection across counties.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula has called for collaboration between Parliament and the private sector to accelerate Kenya's economic growth.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Samuel Njoroge, has cautioned that the spread of fake legislative documents poses a serious risk to national stability and public trust in Parliament.

Speaking on Friday during the KEPSA–National Assembly Roundtable in Mombasa, Mr. Njoroge said fake Bills circulating online have caused unnecessary alarm and confusion among citizens.

He revealed that shortly after President William Ruto assented to several laws, counterfeit versions with fabricated clauses were widely shared on social media.

The Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Kimani Ichung'wah, has challenged the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) to collaborate on developing a multi-year revenue and tax framework to enhance fiscal predictability and national competitiveness.

Speaking at the 8th Speakers' Roundtable with KEPSA, Hon. Ichung'wah stressed that consistent, predictable tax policy is essential for investor confidence.

Addressing the captains of industry under KEPSA the Majority Leader emphasized the need to move beyond annual tax adjustments to a stable, long-term framework.
