Over the weekend, the Senate Committee on County Public Investments and Special Fund Committee, led by Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, partnered with the Council of Governors Committee on Water, Forestry, and Natural Resources Management (Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime) for a two-day Water Multi-Stakeholder Forum in Mombasa County. The forum aimed to address crucial issues in water management and governance.

Speaker of the National Assembly and Chairman of Parliamentary Service Commission, Right Honorable Sen. (Dr.) Moses Masika Wetang'ula, E.G.H, MP hosted the fifth and sixth Parliamentary Service Commissioners for a gala Dinner in Naivasha.

 

The gala dinner was  a culmination of a successful two-days retreat for the Parliamentary Service Commission.

 

The retreat brought together the members of the fifth and sixth Parliamentary Service Commission where the Exit Report of the fifth Commission was presented and adopted.

The National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee on Commercial Affairs and Energy has expressed concerns about continued delay in resolution of a dispute on ownership of two strategic parcels of land within the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

Members of the National Assembly, yesterday,  raised concern over the continued delay in disbursement of the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).

The National Assembly, in collaboration with the Center for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), began a two day training of members of the  Kenya Parliamentary Journalists Association (KPJA), at the Kenya School of Government in Lower Kabete, Kiambu County.

The training, themed, "Parliamentarizing Parliamentary Journalists," is designed for the journalist to familiarize themselves with procedural matters, budget formulation, ethics, and integrity.

 The Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining participated in a comprehensive legal and policy briefing on three significant Bills: The Mining Amendment Bill, 2023, the Gold Processing Bill, 2023 and the Environmental Management and Coordination (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

The Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism met today to consider Memoranda submitted by the Central Organization of Hawkers Association of Kenya on the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood) Bill, 2023 (Senate Bill No. 41 of 2023).

The Senate has resumed its sittings this Tuesday 13, February 2024 after a long recess.

 

During today`s sitting members deliberated and endorsed a list of the Senators who will serve on the Senate House Committee that is tasked with the mandate of planning all House Businesses in the Third Session.

 

The Lawmakers contributed to the motion of approval that was moved by the Senate Majority Leader and Kericho County Senator Aaron Cheruiyot.

Today the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee held a meeting with Kitui County Executive to scrutinize the Auditor General's report on Kitui County Empowerment Fund. 

 

The Governor for Kitui County, H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe appeared before the Committee to respond to the issues raised by the Auditor-General on the financial statements of the aforementioned fund.

Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC), chaired by Hon. George Murugara (Tharaka), held an engagement workshop on the administration of justice, with officials of the Judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

Hon. Murugara welcomed the meeting, stating that the forum created an avenue for the deliberation and formulation of suitable strategies for an effective working relationship between the Judiciary and the Committee.
