The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetangβula, on Tuesday afternoon formally informed Members of Parliament that President William Ruto will deliver the 13th State of the Nation Address this week Thursday 20th November, 2025.
In a communication from the Chair, Speaker Wetangβula said he had received an official message from the President, as required under Standing Order 42(1), which obligates the Speaker to convey any presidential message delivered to his office.
Β βI wish to inform the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President indicating his intention to deliver the 2025 State of the Nation Address on Thursday, 20th November 2025, pursuant to Article 132(1) of the Constitution,β the Speaker said.
He reminded the House that Article 132(1)(b) and (c) of the Constitution requires the President to address a special sitting of Parliament once every year, outlining measures taken and progress achieved in realising national values under Article 10.Β
The President must also publish these details in the Kenya Gazette and submit to the National Assembly a report on Kenyaβs progress in fulfilling its international obligations.
Speaker Wetangβula confirmed that the special sitting of Parliament will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. in the National Assembly Chamber.
A notice of the sitting was published in the Kenya Gazette Notice No. 16519 of November 12, 2025, and a corresponding newspaper advertisement appeared the same day to inform MPs and the public.
He added that the Offices of the Clerks of both Houses have already begun preparations for the joint sitting, with further logistical details set to be communicated to MPs ahead of the event.
