The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. John Mbadi, today delivered his first official Budget Day speech before the National Assembly.

In a session that lasted slightly over two hours, CS Mbadi outlined the Budget Policy Highlights and Revenue Raising Measures for the Financial Year 2025/2026.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon. (Dr.) Moses Masika Wetang'ula, E.G.H, MP tagged in post adjourned the House sitting at 5:23 p.m., shortly after the Cabinet Secretary concluded his presentation.

Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning Hon. John Mbadi today presented a Ksh 4.2 trillion spending plan for the 2025/26 financial year, vowing to put Kenyans at the heart of fiscal policy and stimulate sustainable economic recovery through job creation, affordable healthcare, housing, and food security.

National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula has directed the Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security to table a preliminary report and statement in the House on Thursday at 2:30 PM. 

The report is expected to update the House and the nation on the progress of investigations into the tragic death of Albert Ojwang.

The directive followed concerns raised by lawmakers, led by Nyando MP Hon. Jared Okello, who described the matter as grave and urgent.

National Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Hon. John Mbadi is set to deliver his first official Budget Day speech on Thursday, June 12, 2025, before the National Assembly.

The proposed national budget for the 2025/2026 Financial Year stands at Ksh. 4.239 trillion and is anchored on President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the broader goals of Vision 2030.
